New Builds - Straw Bale Cottage

This 400 sq. ft. straw bale cottage fits right in among Boulder’s Mapleton Historic District. Situated on a long lot, this guest cottage will serve as a desirable sanctuary for visiting relatives and friends. Using natural building materials such
as straw bale walls, natural adobe earthen floors, and non-toxic natural plasters, this home promises exceptional indoor air quality while, simultaneously, minimizing its environmental footprint.

Inspired a recent trip to the Caribbean, Alpen glass has been installed inside turquoise-clad windows; and once completed the home will carry the relaxed tropical theme with salmon and white accents. This charming cottage possesses the elegant charm of the neighborhood. Its unassuming elegance reinforces the design ethic of the Merten Design Studio, and we are very fortunate to build this home for Clients who share our vision and purpose.
